Patrice Martineau, Executive Chef
Originally from Troyes, in the heart of the Champagne region of France, Chef Martineau brings international and national award-winning experience to the elegance of The Charlotte Inn Relais & Chateaux and its acclaimed The Terrace restaurant.
Prior to joining The Charlotte Inn, Chef Martineau was the Executive Chef at the prestigious 5-star, luxury hotel The Montage in Beverly Hills. His international experience includes the Chef de Cuisine position at Peter at The Peninsula, Tokyo, a role that he created when he was selected as the Opening Chef to launch the French gastronomic restaurant there, a two-year stint as the youngest ever Executive Chef of the legendary London Savoy Hotel, and a longtime relationship with world-acclaimed Chef Daniel Boulud: starting as Sous Chef, Martineau quickly moved up the ranks to become Chef de Cuisine, running the kitchen at Michelin-starred Daniel in Manhattan for several years.
Martineau’s pedigreed resume also includes many television appearances, including a guest judge spot on the popular British MasterChef series, and numerous mentions in the culinary press. With a Masters in the Culinary Arts from the Chambre Syndicale de l‘Aube, Martineau launched his career by working with Christophe Cussac from whom he first learned the essentials of gastronomic cuisine and the skills needed to achieve the highest level of culinary skills and jumpstart his international career.
Set to become a year-round culinary destination for connoisseurs, The Terrace will take full advantage of Chef Martineau’s longtime personal relationships with the Island’s farmers and seafood purveyors and incorporate the bounty of Martha’s Vineyard, as well as freshly picked herbs and vegetables from the hotel’s Chef’s garden, into his inventive French inspired seasonal menus. Highlighting Chef Martineau’s international culinary experience, and placing the hotel and restaurant firmly on the New England gastronomic map, we will complement our delicious food with a selection of fine wines, fabulous service, and all of the little details needed to create a truly luxurious setting and pampering experience – from Frette cotton napkins and crisp white tablecloths to Beautiful Limoges china and silver cutlery. Located on a charming tree-lined side street in the historic whaling village of Edgartown, The Terrace at The Charlotte Inn offers the Vineyard’s best fine dining. The Terrace is open for dinner nightly from Memorial Day through Columbus Day. The restaurant is open for dinner year-round on the weekends.
